I figured I would make use of the blog feature here to record updates to the shop and any general updates I might have to share. I really love that Shopify has the ability to add blog posts to the store, I know that not everyone uses social media so I hope to continue to use this feature to update people who don't want to feel forced into using Instagram or Facebook to get updates.
I've been tweaking the website quite a bit to add as much functionality as I can while also not trying to do too much. Some features that are available at launch here are going to be a rewards system, wish listing functionality, and the ability to write reviews for products.
The rewards feature is simple and something I am testing out, I am not married to this rewards system right now so I just want to say that while I hope to keep it around to reward customers that keep coming back, this is all very new to me, and I can only test it so much on my own before the website opens. My hope is that it is relatively bug-free and we can stick with it moving forward, but I absolutely want to know if anyone has any feedback or issues with it. For the most part, rewards will be focused on purchases. I plan to keep redeeming rewards simple - you earn points, you can redeem them back for X amount off of your order. I might add the option to redeem it for polishes or cuticle oils in the future, I'm not sure yet.
I have added a wish listing feature to the store as well - I wanted to pick one that will allow me to see what polishes people are adding so that it will help me get a sense of what to focus on for re-stocks. I also wanted to pick one that allows you to add items straight to the cart from the list. I have seen this feature used by other brands that I like, so my hope is that it will satisfy everyone's needs.
I have also added a review option to each product. The reviews do not give any incentive to earn rewards, and I want to keep it that way so that people don't feel the need to write reviews just to get some points. If people really love, hate, or whatever else a polish I want them to feel comfortable writing their real opinions on the page to give others a sense of whether or not a polish is something they're going to enjoy or not. I do hope people will still remember to leave reviews when they love something just because there isn't added incentive to do so!
